Jamie H Designs WILL accept a scanned photo at 300 dpi, IF the original photo is an excellent photo.
Jamie H Designs will accept an image from a photo CD if the negatives have been scanned and you can see that the image size is no lower than 1000X600 pixels, and the original photo is a sharp focused, great quality image.
Please provide the original color image, we will convert to black and white or sephia if you so desire.
Jamie H Designs gently re-touches, blends, crops, smooths, and fades the digital picture as needed.
Please remember, changing the resolution of your photo in the computer to create a higher resolution image would only result in a poor image quality end result. Do not re-touch or crop the photo, or re-save to a smaller or larger file size. Please ensure your digital camera is set to the very highest setting before taking the photo.
Tips:
1. Please, no digital pictures from a photo CD, unless the focus is
sharp and the file size the optimum size (as in the creator of the
photo CD actually scanned your negatives onto the CD). We would like
the original photo straight from your camera. Sometimes a 2 mega-pixel
digital camera will work, typically 3 and above is needed.
2. The size of the image should be no lower than: 1200x600 pixels. There are some images which are very close to the low end, maybe a little lower, but if you feel the photo is sharp focus and close up and you would like us to consider it, send it along and we will give an honest opinion. We prefer a photo closer to: 2048x1536 pixels; if you supply us with a sharp focused, close up photo taken from your high mega pixel camera set to the highest setting and the pixel size is the latter mentioned pixels, we can with no doubt create a beautiful and elegant photo vellum birth announcement.
3. Changing the resolution of your photo in the computer to create a higher resolution image would only result in a poor image quality end result. Do not re-touch or crop the photo, or re-save to a smaller or larger file size. Please ensure your digital camera is set to the very highest setting.
4. Please make sure the image is not cutting of the head or hands, and if the baby is not dressed, make sure all of the body is contained in the photo. Having half the foot out of the frame when there is no clothing is very difficult to work with. (The exception to this is with our photo printed directly on cardstock, they would look great closely cropped.)
5. Make sure you are as close to the baby as you would like the final image to be. Make sure the photo is sharp focused.
6. Avoid dark clothing.
7. Awake or asleep is up to you.
8. Siblings are fine; just ensure the focus remains on the baby.
9. Usually a close up, sharply focused picture, with a solid light colored back ground, having your baby propped up a little and not just laying flat on back on the bed, will provide a natural and adorable picture.
10. Take a lot of pictures!!
11. Relax and have fun. :)
* Please remember that your printed image can only be as good as the picture you provide. Printing onto card stock and not photo paper, is a less “forgiving” media, and is a softer effect. The elegance of printing on cotton paper is wonderful and much more traditional and elegant than photo paper, however, it does mean that because the image is softer in the final card, the original we begin with needs to have a clean sharp focus. We print with ink, and not toner; we do not use laser printers (toner based), but instead print with professional grade photo printers, which print with ink, for that maximum print quality feel.
If your photo does not meet the minimum photo requirements, items cannot be returned, exchanged, or refunded, unless there is a text error on our part. if you are unsure of the quality, colors, or type, please request a sample.
